This special exhibit comprises of artworks of 10 western artists, presented by the Art Canton Committee before the Art Canton Fair, 2019. It is aimed to explore and reveal the modern attitude and concepts of western artists, meanwhile demonstrating the position of Art Canton in the process of globalization and diverstification in art world.
The world art history is written in the conflicts and collisions between different art schools. As a mirror to the history, western artists have the innate conflicting Oedipus Complex. Especially during the period of the last 100 years, from the modernists to the post-modernists, finally to the contemporary art, artists are always creating without stop, turning from the old to the new just in a blink of an eye. Until now, the world of art is entering an age, when there is no specific school or style.
Without being missed from any important social change driven by the industrial revolution, western art did not carry such heavy historical burden as China. In other words, western art need not to inherit the huge historical burden. Western artists are living under this artistic rule- negation of negation, they are used to discard the old art tradition in a way of distorting the memory of the past.
Hence, the 10 artists of this exhibit, do not escape from the fact that they themselves will be somehow negated after they cast away the old artistic concepts. However, in case this situation happened, they rethink and discover the art in depth, to strengthen the originality and uniqueness of their art.
Moreover, as a result of living in China for a long time, these artists combine the eastern Yihui (understand by insight) art style with western style, which will facilitate the easterners appreciate their works. However, this method would not harm the freedom in the expression of the difference between the east and the west, on the contrary, it'll give us a full understanding of the origin, development and revolution of western art.
